In the Blue Zone: Discovery Jazz

This original swing tune features a medium tempo with a bluesy feel and a touch of gospel. The opening is set over a stop-time background feel, and throughout the composition the rhythms are kept very easy and with moderate ranges. There is a flexible solo section and the changes are easy for beginning improvisers. As with all of the big band charts in the “Discovery Jazz” series, the flexible instrumentation allows for a band as little as 3 saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, piano, and drums.
