Creature Feature was written by Jerry Bergonzi at the inspiration of his cat, Arbonius Unt. The piece, with its medium tempo straight-eighth feel, is moody, obtuse, even 'spooky', and offers an interesting programmatic change when performed in concert. There are some demanding cross rhythms for all, but the soprano is the only instrument that is technically challenged by notes. In order for the group improvisation at 117 to be effective, each player (with the exception of the tenor soloist) must resist the temptation to play too much. Soprano and tenor are featured. Grade 5.
