Saxophone Quartet (SATB)
La Noche Festiva for Sax Quartet is one of Dennis Anderson’s newest compositions. In five movements, each can be performed separately or ensemble as a complete suite. Each movement represents an authentic Latin musical form and should be carefully approached with an indigenous Latin flavor, sensibility, and ‘attitude’.
Balada rómantica:
As with any celebratory event, lovers will express their intentions and affections whether unrequited or not. This ballad is replete with luscious harmonies and singing melodic lines. The alto and soprano saxophone get their chance to ‘tell the story’ of a romantic interlude. ‘Young’ love can be an exhilarating encounter, yet often bittersweet and fragile, especially if mama or papa disapproves of the chosen mate. We will never know if nuptials are eminent. Balada weaves, twists, turns, and jumps, culminating in a musically fulfilling resolution. (Running time: 4:27)
